Noemi is a 13 year old girl who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in November of 2016. It was very tough for her to go through treatments with months of chemotherapy and then surgery on her left femur to remove a tumor in her leg. She now has a rod in her leg. In August 2017 Noemi was declared cancer free, we were very excited to celebrate the news. In February of 2018 we learned that Noemi had relapsed, this time the cancer had metastisized to her lungs, with only a 20% chance of surviving. As her Mom, my while world fell apart again. Miraculously after three treatments Noemi is is in remission again.
When Noemi lost her hair it was extremely difficult for both of us emotionally. I remember Noemi telling me “Mom, please do something for me, I don’t want to be bald.” My heart aches so much, I cried many tears as there was nothing I could do to stop it. As of now Noemi is bald and she has learned to live her life despite the baldness. Noemi is still beautiful. I want my daughter to remember that with God everything is possible, being bald is a representation of strength and courage to keep going.
