ShelbiShelbi’s Story

I was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at 24 years of age. It is rare for someone my age to receive this diagnosis. I went through treatment and had a stem cell transplant in December of 2015. I was declared “N.E.D.” (No Evidence of Disease)and was able to get my life back in order. I had several side-effects from chemo but pushed past them and learned to cope with them.

Three and half years laterI learned that I had relapsed, my worst nightmare had returned. In late June 2019 I started round one of immunotherapy. This treatment did not bode well and caused more harm than good. I made the decision to stop treatment and “live my best life.” It was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make but I felt it was the right decision for me as my body could not handle the effects of the chemo.
