About Us

The Bald Beauties Project® was conceived and created by Kelsey Taylor Luria during her treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Queen Bee Carry a Bead

How does the Queen Bee Carry A Bead kit work?

Each time you purchase an exclusive Queen Bee Carry a Bead kit, you support the mission of the Bald Beauties Project® and Beads of Courage®. Each kit contains a pair of custom, handmade “Queen Bee” beads by bead artists Shannon Vickers or Jeannie Cox. After completing your own adventure return one Queen Bee along with words of encouragement to Beads of Courage. Your Queen Bee bead and your message of support will be given to a child with a serious illness on a tough treatment day or to celebrate a treatment milestone.

Our Primary Objectives

eyelashBeauty & Self Confidence · The Bald Beauties Photo Project will empower children and teen cancer patients who lose their hair through chemotherapy by providing them a professional photo shoot to help them gain courage, strength and confidence while also enabling them to feel beautiful even without their hair.

kind1Kindness · Teenagers who have been diagnosed with cancer have multiple needs and many are quite different that those of non-teenage patients. While young children are often offered a variety of toys, stuffed animals and gifts during their hospitalization, there are few age appropriate items for teens. With this in mind, the Bald Beauties Project® will provide teens with a Teen Comfort Kit that provides comforting and useful items to ease the burden of being hospitalized. We also provide other random acts of kindness through the Bald Beauties Project® each year.

research3

Research · In partnership with the Children’s Oncology Group Foundation, the Bald Beauties Project® will support ongoing research of Acute Myeloid Leukemia to help “kick cancer’s ass” altogether, so no one else has to fight this insidious disease.
