Hannah’s Story

Hannah has been playing softball since she was 7 years old. She loved it. About year-and-half ago, Hannah started having intermittent knee pain. She was having pain at night to where it would wake her up. She was also having to sit out during her softball games and miss P.E. at school. Like every mom, I just gave her ibuprofen and icy hot, lots of it.

We eventually took Hannah to urgent care and followed up with an orthopedic surgeon. At first, it was thought Hannah was experiencing growing pains, a few months later the doctors changed the diagnosis to plica syndrome and prescribed therapy for her knee. The knee pain continued and after another ER visit and MRI Hannah was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkins B-Lymphoblastic Lymphoma on August 1, 2016.

Hannah has endured multiple biopsies, scans, blood work, and tests. The doctors said the way this cancer presented itself is rare. The cancer is in her blood, bones, and spinal fluid. So far Hannah has completed two out of the five courses of treatment and is slated to have radiation after the chemo is complete.
