JacobJacob’s Story

Last summer at 17 years of age I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma with a tumor in my jaw. I had an extensive surgery to remove the tumor and reconstruction of my jaw. I am now undergoing chemo since the surgery.

I have always liked to have my hair a little longer so I run my fingers through it. This has helped me when I’m feeling stressed. When I started to lose my hair I was sad, it was as if I was losing a part of my identity. I felt less like my real self and more self-conscious. I did not shave my head so I could keep the few strands I had left and feel that I am still me.
