Mia’s Story
At just six weeks old Mia was diagnosed with Diamond-Blackfan Anemia (DBA), a rare blood disorder that occurs when the bone marrow fails to make red blood cells. Mia has received 20 years of monthly blood transfusions. This year Mia was able to have a bone marrow transplant to replace her abnormal stem flees with healthy stem cells to boost her red blood cell production. Mia continues to be monitored and is doing well in her recovery!
