Riley’s Story

May 5th, 2020 Riley received a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) after several visits to the Emergency Room for bone pain. Following his first and only blood transfusion Riley had a Hemorrhagic stroke. He was given blood thinners as we tried to balance treatment of the clots AND not making the bleeding worse. It was successful so far as clots, but the bleeding became suddenly worse in August and shifted his brain almost completely into the right hemisphere. He was at severe risk of his brain. Herniation into his spine. It was essentially a catch at 11:45 of the 11th hour.

In October after healing very well from brain surgery, Riley experienced a second stroke. This time it was an Ischemic stroke. Riley has recovered VERY well from the stroke and is hoping to begin the maintenance phase of treatment for ALL soon.
